Congrats on Receiving Your L.O.I.

Use your Letter of Introduction to secure employment with a signatory contractor.

STEP 4: Letter of Introduction

Plumbing Training 1

Upon completion of steps 1-3, the Apprenticeship Office will invite you to a scheduled session to receive your Letter of Introduction. This will qualify you to apply to plumbing companies.

Once you obtain your LOI, you can move forward with applying to signatory contractors' open positions. Download the list of contractors that have received approval to train apprentices here. Note that although their office location is listed, your work will be performed at the job site in varied locations across southcentral and southeastern Wisconsin.

Tips From Successful Apprenticeship Candidates

  1. Research the company you want to speak with before contacting them. What type of work do they do? What kind of customers do they have? What size are they? What is their hiring process?
  2.  Call the main office and ask for the contact information of their hiring manager or manpower coordinator so that you can go right to the source.
  3. If they don't have open positions listed on their website, contact the HR representative to ask if they are hiring. If not now, when do they see a need coming up? What can you do in the meantime to be the most attractive candidate?
  4. Be Pleasantly Persistent. Tenacity goes a long way in the pipe trades. Prove to the contractor you've got what it takes by following up, staying in contact, and keeping yourself at the top of their pile. Turn their "No" into "Not Yet" and continue to fight for a place on their roster.
